My First Sketch For You To Try

Hi Stampers!
Wow, I can't believe I actually have to post this early in the day! But I am working extra hours at work this week so I get a whole hour for lunch. WooHoo! So I decided to come up stairs to our office and work on my blog post for today. How exciting (at least for me it is anyway. :o) ) So like I said on Sunday, I was actually finally able to get some stamping done over the weekend thanks to school being over. So I sat by the t.v. and rooted for my Lakers who are now 2009 NBA Champs! WooHoo, Go Lakers! (sorry Orlando Magic fans). While watching the finals, I decided to try my hand Jen Del Muro's Sketch For You To Try. I love her blog and have always wanted to try one of her sketches but never had the time. Well, I finally got a chance to play and I made 2 cards using her sketch. I'll share the other one tomorrow. ;o)

Here's the sketch, it was a lot of fun and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to try it out. And like I said, I liked it so much I made 2 cards! If you'd like to play along and make a card, you can check out Jen's blog: i {heart}2stamp. If you do play along please also share your card with me, I'd like to see what you come up with. To be honest, I couldn't decide on what size to make the panels but I figured it out. I don't have the measurements with me but I'll add them to my post when I get home tonight. Okay, so here's my card:

So you like? I love, love how this card turned out. I know I didn't exactly stick to the sketch but it's close enough, no? I love this color combo and I am going to be so sad when these colors retire at the end of June. :o( I used the Walk in the Park Designer Series Paper (from the Occasions Mini Catalog), Baja Breeze Cardstock, and Pink Pirouette Cardstock. The beautiful butterfly and the sentiment are both from the Great Friend Stamp Set, also in the Mini Catalog. If you'd like to order either, do so now because I'm not sure if either will be in the new catalog. Click on the image on the left of my blog to view the Mini Catalog and you can buy any of the supplies 24/7 on my website or by emailing me or calling me.

The sentiment is stamped in Baja Breeze Ink and the word "bubble" (what do you call that?) is stamped in Kiwi Kiss Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock. I cut it out and adhered it to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals so that it would "pop up" a bit.

Here are some close ups of the butterfly, sorry that the second picture is blurry, I'll try to take another and re-post it. As you can see I stamped the butterfly twice, in Baja Breeze Ink on Whisper White Cardstock. I then cut both out with my PaperSnips Scissors (love those) and adhered first one butterfly to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals. Then the second butterfly I layered over the first also using Stampin' Dimensionals and I curled up the wings just a little to give the effect of "flying."

All Supplies Stampin' Up
Stamps: Great Friend
Ink: Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss
Paper: Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Walk In The Park Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Stampin' Dimensionals, PaperSnips Scissors

Well, that's it for today. Thanks for stopping by. Stay tuned tomorrow, I'll be sharing the other card I made using this same sketch. Remember, to check the Last Chance Accessories List to see what's still available to order before everything's gone!

Happy Stampin'!
